I recently got to do a very special sewing project. My good friend Ally's parents are in Africa on a mission. They sent her a dress to be used for Brooke's blessing. There was apparently some confusion with the person who made the dress because it was HUGE. I got to make it baby size. I was really nervous about taking the dress apart because I didn't want to do anything to ruin it and I wanted to keep the same style. I had the dress for quite awhile before I actually started work on it. I pulled it out every now and then to look at it and think about how I would tackle it. I'm glad I took that time because some of the other ways I could have done it wouldn't have turned out as well. I made alterations to the pattern I had since I was working with an existing form that couldn't just be altered in anyway. I had to use some tricks my old sewing teachers wouldn't have considered "proper" but the over all product turned out really well.
(This picture of Hunter makes me laugh every time I see it for some reason. It is just kind of humorous how big the dress is. Hunter is all boy and knows it is a dress, he is so smart, it just cracks me up.)
The dress all done. Brooke was beautiful in it. To see pictures of Brooke in the dress go

Brooke's dress was specially imported from Africa with custom alterations made in the U.S. :)

Good Job!! It looks like you are doing very well in your sewing. It is great to be able to help friends as close as Brad and Ally in such a special way. Your second blessing dress activity looks like it was a huge success. I feel sorry for Hunter, they have a blackmail picture for the future like a young lady eating dirt.
you saved us Tanya! i dont know what we would have done! thank you so much and the dress was absolutely perfect!! love you guys!
way to go Tanya! I know how hard alterations can be and you did a wonderful job on such a small scale.
Sometime I think about how fun it would have been to still live close to each other. Our little girls could play on the floor while we spent the afternoon sewing and doing fun projects. Maybe someday we will be neighbors.
I don't know how you did that, after seeing it all in pieces. You're amazing.
