stake center

These pictures were taken by my Grandpa Nielson of the stake center being built in 1964.  My mom’s family help with other church members to build it.  My mom did things like rubbing bricks together to clean them, carrying things around to people, clean up, helping with meals for the workers, etc.  This is the building I went to church in from the time I was about five till I went to school and got married.  I remember many Sunday meetings, mutuals, young womens, early morning seminary, and other fun activities held here.  I’ve gone to funeral services in this building.  Including my Grandma Nielsons when I was in the third grade.  At my brother Dale’s funeral, there were so many people that filled this building that day to show love and support towards me and family at a delicate time.  I had a great ward growing up that loved me and amazing leaders who really cared.  I’m sure many of you have heard the phrase “It takes a village to raise a child,” my “village” met here every Sunday.  I was baptized in this building and my wedding reception was held here after being married in the Portland Temple.  The Gospel is the same where ever you go I’m just saying this building holds alot of great memories for me.  I plan on ordering these two prints to hang in my home of this special place.  If you’d like to see other pictures go HERE

Nice comments Tanya -- It is a great building and holds a lot of memories for me. I remember the groundbreaking -- I remember the announcement the ward would be divided and a new building built, I remember all the activities to finance the wards part of the money to construct the building, I remember the dinners for the special people needed to build the church. What memories.
